Happy Diwali Everyone!

Diwali is the festival of lights. It is a festival that is celebrated by almost everyone in India, regardless of age, religion, region, etc. The feature of burning firecrackers makes it one of the most anticipated festivals, especially for kids. Last Diwali wasn't a one to remember, for me. Hope this Diwali brings joy and prosperity to everyone.

The Council

This semester, a group of people running the DC hubs have come together to form a committee. They made some common rules and restrictions to guide people how they should be using the DC. The download restrictions in BITS are the most serious problem that most people face while they are here. Every year, the authorities conduct surveys and other things but still nothing improves. I am thinking about the formation of a Council of Downloaders. There will be a group of people who will try satisfy the download needs of BITSian junta. The committee will consist of people interested games, movies, music, software, etc.


They will monitor the latest developments and the 'highly wanted' stuff will be downloaded for the people. The kind of censorship in our college is totally ridiculous. If an address or search term contains -movie,game,girl,etc.- they block it without any consideration.

Movie suggestions

If u are looking for some movie suggestions, try 'Fight club' or 'V for vendetta'. The best movies that I have watched in the last 3 days. In Hindi, you can try 'A Wednesday'. I have completed watching the second season of Kyle. So, I am now back to movies.

When U dont Mean It...Don't Say it!!

I had experienced a highly uncomfortable situation a few moments ago. But, it really showed me who are the people that really care. It was about going to a trip, for the night. I didn't know it until five minutes from the time of departure. people come in to ask for sweat shits and stuff but, no one asks me to join the camp. I do not know what you are thinking but, I think a lot about the silliest things in life. For me, life is much more than it appears. One of them comes and asks me to join but, I know he did it as formality. He knows that I am going to turn down the offer. That even worsened my psychological state. I am not crying over something here. I just feel very uncomfortable when involved in such 'acts'. What can I expect from people involved in politics? I guess the whole political system is a mess. It starts at the college level itself! So weird and frightening.

Anyway, I couldn't have enjoyed it. I know. This helped me make a three point scale for differentiation of people. The good, the human and the bad. I guess most of us fall under the human category, utilizing all the possible opportunities for personal benefits. Who knows how many new categories I should include for classification, in the future. This post is for my friend, who wants to know the real reason. I am not as lazy as I appear. It the ones who surround me that make me that way.

The reason!

When someone starts blogging, he thinks about the content he wants to post in his/her blog. I had observed that most engineering students seek to maintain a tech blog. The reasons might be varying. Even I started blogging in an almost similar fashion. My first blog was the 'GamiN blog' (the link is available in my blog list) -because of my obsession with games, of course . I wanted to post any game related information in it. But, then I realized that it would be a 'copy+paste' activity, which i did not like. It lacked originality. So, I gave up that idea and started writing this blog. At the moment, I am pretty satisfied with my work.

Oasis 2k8 Walls

New look!

One of my friends put up ads on my blog recently. But, the template did not impress me. Actually, I meddled with some of the page elements to make it even worse. So, I had then decided to search for a new template for my blog. Not long after, I found three templates which i liked. One of them is a modification of the classic 2 column template, achieved by inserting an extra column. But, the best one of all was this one, the one i am currently using. It is simple, yet that beautiful. I always wanted to design a custom header for the blog. This template gave me the opportunity. So, I used a wallpaper that i recently downloaded and the cool Unreal font to make the present header.

I am so obsessed with this template because it game me the opportunity to work my mind in designing a header. I have thought of designing one, a couple of months ago. But, I didn't have the motivation to do it. That too, my old template would have made the image even worse. :)

Here is the wallpaper that i used in designing the header. Gears of War 2 is coming Soon! but not for the pc. Sad! :(

No matter what people think, my opinion on Kyle is totally positive. It makes me feel good while watching it. What else do you need?

I want to get my hand on Bully™ as soon as possible. Eagerly waiting for it. If you are wondering why i am scribbling this up... 'I am bored'.

GaminG @ Oasis

There is also a gaming event scheduled this Oasis. But, for some reason i couldn't bring out the enthusiasm in me to participate. I just want to chill out, this Oasis. It might be my last Oasis@ BITS. So, I do not want to waste time waiting to play a match of FIFA. The competition is conducted for fifa, nfs, cs and dota.

Inaug

The inauguration ceremony of OASIS 2k8 was exceptionally good, expect the fact that the auditorium couldn't seat those many people. We had to stand for half of the show. There were uncomfortably long delays between events. The delays shouldn't have been there for calling up the members of the STUCCA body and chief guest. All the dances were good and the jokes in the first part of MIME were also good. The basketball match, football tricks and midget show performed by MIME club were really impressive!

I went to the prof show of the singer, Kay kay(K.K). It really rocked. He sang around 25 songs. The ones i really liked are Cheliya Cheliya(from Gharshana), Dus Bahane, Tu Hi Meri, Summer of 69, song from Iqbal... hmm i guess all the songs were presented perfectly.

Stroke?!!?

I heard the following from somewhere --- People having a pain in their right shoulder might have heart problems! I guess it is true. But, for most people in BITS, or any other college, the pain results from excessive gaming.

So if you are not a gamer, you should start worrying!

Relief

Had a haircut and massage, a few minutes back. I'm much more relieved now. I've been thinking of a lot of things lately.

PS2

Hmmm.... I am not talking about practice school-2 here. Actually, it has a part in this whole thing.


The thing is that I have finally become a Sony PlayStation2™ owner. It sounds odd. I know. But, this is how it always happens to me. I was planning on buying the ps3 next year, with some money from my ps2(intern) but my bro couldn't wait. Anyway, it wasn't his fault either. He doesn't have any form of gaming entertainment at home. I bought the ps1 when ps2 was released and now this happens. I just hope that i needn't wait longer before i buy the ps3 or Xbox360 or any new console that's released in the near future.

The worst part is....I have to wait till December to just have a look at it.

Again!

I worked as the editor for ISA last year but, out of lethargy or laziness i did not contribute in making the first Newsletter that was released last semester. So, this time I tired and compiled an article. It was about the GeForce 200 series of graphic cards. Basically, I love graphics and gaming. Secondly, not many people are aware about the new hardware releases. Some people still think that the 7800 series is the best and latest graphic processor available from NVIDIA. Now, that article has been replaced by some shitty news about Windows 7 and the Google Android project. Windows7? What were they thinking? We are listening news about Windows7 from a long time now. It's not that new to be put up on the front page of a 'New'sletter.


The bottom line is, people think that gamers/ anything related to gaming are not official or formal enough to be put up on a newsletter. This mindset has been in the association for ages. I have been seeing it from my 1st year with the assoc.! The people change but their ideologies don't. I am really pissed right now! I can't help it! But, I don't mind their interference with those activities now, as i think that, some people like me have lost prominence in those matters!

Grow up!

When there are millions or billions of people, starving without any food, in the world, there is one guy who is totally different, my sidey! 'Sidey' is the term attached to the guy living next to your room at college. This guy eats only in the night. Doesn't care about looking at the mess during day time. Don't guess the reason to be --- he is a great human being trying to 'feel' the sorrows of the world. He just does it cause he doesn't have LAN. He thinks, sacrificing his meal will help him get his LAN up and running real quick. How superstitious! Apparently, it isn't working for him.

Waiting for It!

I just finished drinking my 600ml bottle of coke. I am planning to lay down for some time before watching a movie. What's so special in it? This day marks the end of all miseries for me, at least for another 3 weeks before they begin again. I've taken an Operating Systems test at 3pm and it was the last scheduled test before OASIS, the time to chill.

I didn't expect the paper to be that easy. After all, it was a CDC and an open book exam. I've done well, but, there will always be the thought, 'I could do better'. It is a very common thing that everyone feel. I guess there is no limit for human desire.

KYLE XY

After seeing many people putting up custom messages about Kyle XY, I had decided to try it myself. So, at 3 am in the morning I downloaded the first episode from DC++ and started watching. The show starts off with a guy waking up naked in a lush green forest/natural park. He doesn't remember anything from his past. At the first instance itself, you find the boy to be very special. He is taken into a social organization, from where he moves on into his new house. At first, all the people in the household do not like him. They feel he is retarded. But, he easily makes them his friends(or more appropriately his 'family')in a short period of time.


The show shows the reality in human life in a humorous way. It also contains emotional sequences. Above all, the thrill involved in finding who the boy really was, is the main theme of the show.

'Expressing' is not a term related to the brain, I strongly feel that it is related to the heart.

Indian DOTA connection

This post is for all Indian DOTA players. It is easy to find connections between DOTA and Indian Mythology. Two things that immediately strike one's mind are listed below:

1.Whenever a Game starts, you will hear a long and continuous sound, signaling it. The sound is made by a shell like thing, called Shankam in Telugu. The image is given below.


In Indian Mythology, blowing the Shankam signals the start of a Battle.

2.Dota players might be aware of the item, Shiva's Guard. Lord Shiva is a Hindu god.

CS, DOTA, AOE, NFS, FIFA are the only games that most of the people know @ college. There is a game called BIONIC COMMANDO REARMED which is an enhancement of the classic BIONIC COMMANDO game. It's size was only 250mb, but no one cared to download. But, everyone dies for freakin SAW5 or NFS PROSTREET.



Its time that People started recognizing quality. Hype or loyalty shouldn't be the criteria for judgment!

It was the time when there were bathrooms but no bolts. So, people started to sing while they were bathing, signaling that there is someone in there. DO NOT ENTER! :D


It has become a human trait from then and so there are billions of bathroom singers in the world right now.

The India dressing style is unique. Especially that of women. I had a funny idea on the origin of the use of dupatta.


Before Independence, women used to be confined to household activities only. It is only after many reforms and things like that, that they have reached the stage they are presently at. House hold activities involve a lot of hard work and sweat. My guess is that they were using a cloth piece for wiping off the sweat, which has slowly turned out to become the dupatta.It could also be helpful in shielding them from the hot sun!

Striking a Balance!

I had this idea for about a month now. But, I just could not make time to write this post. The reason DOTA, a really good game(I have to admit this!) which is played in the worst possible way in BITS. It might be because of the players going for steals or total cowards or freaks who only type, rather than play.Or simply because someone kicks u from their server though you aren't a noob/leaver. A noob calls U a 'NOOB' and thinks he is cool or just because U are DAMN frustrated! I guess i haven't played this game for 1 complete year now. But, i am bored and fed up with it. Anyway, I learned something from it also.

It is the balance between Truthfulness, Modesty and Boastfulness. I am the kind of person who isn't boastful. But I hate what i am now. When you are as modest as people like me, others tend to underestimate you. So, I guess being boastful is in a sense, GOOD. Even if you perform below their expectations, still you can cover up. Being modest doesn't help you to reach greater heights in professional scenarios. If you cant be boastful, at least be truthful. Don't be shy, accept appreciations!

I'm Serious! Give me some cases where boastfulness can ruin your career or life.

I do not understand the truth. Actually, I guess I do not know it. I would like to know the truth but i cannot bear the consequences of knowing it. If you think, what i am thinking is the truth, you may be right!

I am not the best! I do not want to be the best either. I like to be in the top. Not on the top. In the top half. I know i am not the worst. In the system of relativity there is no worst at all!
